When Volta Data Centres opened up a new facility with 91,000 sq ft of Data Hall space, our specialist Data Centre Technicians were selected to manage it. Our goal was to improve overall service delivery to Volta and their clients.
We proposed the initiative of training our own on site Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to assist Volta improve service delivery to their clients.
A main objective was to train our team in Data Centre awareness, understand Human Factors and to carry out DC maintenance tasks. The Challenge posed to Optimum at this point was our engineering team had no experience of tasks involving Data Centre Patching as all engineers were from an M&E background.
Training and support for our engineers was key not just to deliver the Volta service solution, but to develop our team and to enable them to carry out these additional tasks for future contracts.
In-house training was provided to our teams which included installation and testing of copper and fibre. Once the training was completed, our team had additional support from other critical environment sites where Optimum a wealth of knowledge and are able to assist in future if required.
Since our team has taken on data centre engineering tasks, we have successfully completed over 1,223 DC tasks. This has improved Volta’s own customer satisfaction and also enhanced Optimums relationship and service delivery to our client.
We deliver both Mechanical & Electrical and Data Centre services to a number of critical environments customers.
